AI is quickly becoming an indispensable tool for cybersecurity professionals, helping us work faster, analyze more, and solve increasingly complex problems. But are we becoming so comfortable working with AI that we are losing something far more valuable: teamwork, communication, creativity, and the security culture we worked so hard to build? Worse yet, excessive reliance on AI threatens our ability to develop and maintain critical skills, gradually turning experienced cybersecurity professionals into lower-skilled prompt operators who depend on AI rather than their own expertise and judgment. In this talk, we will explore how AI-driven isolation, declining technical skills, and misplaced confidence can weaken our collective ability to defend against threats. Through practical examples and lessons learned, we will highlight the benefits of using AI in moderation while preserving traditional teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking, and continuous skill development.
